About John Hash
My name is John Hash and I am running for Texas State Representative of District 50. I have lived in Austin for almost 15 years, with most of that time in the Wells Branch Neighborhood. Wells Branch is home to a wonderful park and trail system, where I have logged miles of walks and runs with my wife Ruth and rescue pup Thunder. Walks to Mills Pond are a daily occurrence in our house as our daughter loves seeing the pond and the surrounding plants and wildlife.
From a young age, I learned the value of civil service and stewardship, a lesson I carry with me and hope to pass on to future generations of Texans. After graduating from The University of Texas at Austin, I spent years working in youth outreach, first at a public high school in San Antonio, then at The University of Texas at Austin, helping first-generation students navigate college and career paths. More recently, I’ve taken on one of the most challenging and rewarding roles yet: stay-at-home parent to a spirited, funny daughter.
I've admired the way James Talarico has honorably served my district and hope to continue the legacy that he began in District 50. I’m advocating for a Texas where every child—like my daughter—has guaranteed healthcare, safe schools, strong public education, and access to the wild, beautiful outdoors that make our state special. Our kids deserve nothing less, and it’s on us to make it happen.
